Topic and Contents of the Book Series: The book series is intended as a cultural platform, a space of discussion in which research activities interested in otherness and the forms it takes in the city can converge. The series is dedicated to the publication of research aimed at reinterpreting complex legacies in the light of new conditions. ALTERsCITY aims to affirm both the need to consider the centrality of the elsewhere and the other (alter, in Latin) and the value of the abandoned and the rejected in need of modification (to alter, in English). The other is not understood as different but rather in terms of multiplicity and variation, i.e. a difference that composes a wider unity. Also in this sense, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research aimed at a project - first and foremost a cultural project - of space, of the other space, of the waste space, of the marginal space, of the space on the edge, can find a place of expression in ALTERsCITY. A relevant example of otherness in the urban context is surely the Foucauldian heterotopias; an urban, social, cultural and political heritage of the last century that represents a premise for ALTERsCITY.
