Topic and Contents of the Book Series:
The object of study of the Natural Sciences is very broad: in the classical tradition the so-called historia naturalis was configured as an investigation of reality, embracing those disciplines that today converge in the Life Sciences, the Geosciences and Cosmology. The aim of this series is to promote a renewed interest in the possibility of re-proposing the unity of ancient natural history. At the same time, an important role will be played by works aimed at renewing the transdisciplinary dialogue between the natural sciences and the humanities, favoring the definition of the historical and cultural landscape in which the study of Nature has developed over the centuries.
During its 140 years of history, the Society of Naturalists has contributed to the knowledge of poorly known territories that fall within central and southern Italy. This deep-rootedness wants to be a reference also for this new series, which without wanting to delimit barriers that would be by their nature contrary to the spirit of the Society, aims to stimulate the naturalistic exploration of areas of our country still poorly known, making the results accessible to the scientific community.
