Abstract: Aldo Moro, General Secretary of the Christian Democracy, Prime minister in an alliance of center-left, strategist of the government agreement with the Communist Party and finally victim of the political terrorism. Looking at two different stages of Italian political life - the season of center-left coalition and the tragic story of the armed struggle - this volume traces, from multiple perspectives, the tormented path of the leader politician that best sums up the Italian history of the second post-war period.

Author Biographies

Alessandro Sansoni, The Order of Journalists in Italy

Alessandro Sansoni received his PhD in Historical Sciences at the Federico II University of Naples. Journalist, he works with the international press agency Agenzia Nova and he is the director of CulturaIdentità, the monthly magazine for cultural insights published as supplement to the Italian newspaper Il Giornale. He is a national councilor and member of the executive board of the Italian Order of Journalists.

Pierluigi Totaro, University of Naples Federico II

Pierluigi Totaro teaches Contemporary History at the Department of Humanities, Federico II University of Naples. Scholar of the history of political Catholicism and Southern Italy, he is a member of the scientific committee of «Studi Storici»

Paolo Varvaro, University of Naples Federico II

Paolo Varvaro teaches Contemporary History at the Department of Political Sciences, Federico II University of Naples. He dealt with the issues of formation and organization of the State and published studies on Risorgimento, Fascism and the Republican Age in Italy.
