Abstract: The text serves as a concise and essential compendium, designed for the rapid acquisition of the fundamental theoretical and practical principles necessary to understand medium and low-voltage electrical systems. Emphasis is placed on the structural characteristics of key components and the analysis of their behavior within the system, under both normal and short-circuit conditions. With a strictly applied approach, the volume aims to impart conceptual and operational skills for evaluating system performance, providing a comprehensive overview of networks in civil and industrial settings.

Author Biographies

Valerio Mangoni, University of Cassino and Southern Lazio

Prof. Valerio Mangoni was a full professor at the University of Naples Federico II and the University of Cassino. A prominent figure in Italian electrical engineering, he bridged the gap between the historic school of Federico II and the growth of the Faculty at Cassino. Beyond his national and international publications, his greatest legacy remains the education of generations of engineers and researchers. For decades, his lecture notes and textbooks on Power Systems have been the benchmark for students and researchers in Cassino and Naples, renowned for their capability to combine mathematical complexity with practical industrial application.

Guido Carpinelli, University of Cassino and Southern Lazio

Guido Carpinelli was a full professor at the University of Cassino and the University of Naples Federico II. His research focused on power systems, specifically regarding analysis under normal and abnormal conditions, as well as planning and management issues. He authored numerous publications in journals and national and international conference proceedings. He was honored with the "2018 PMAPS Merit Award" by the PMAPS International Society and authored several books on power systems.

Pietro Varilone, University of Cassino and Southern Lazio

Prof. Pietro Varilone is a full professor at the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering of the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio. Since 2008, he has served as the scientific director of LaSE (Power Systems Research Laboratory) at the University. His research focuses on the analysis, optimization, and management of power systems, with a specific emphasis on unbalanced systems, the grid integration of wind and photovoltaic generation, and Power Quality issues. He has authored numerous publications in international journals and conference proceedings and is the author of a book on medium and low-voltage distribution systems.
