Abstract: This volume is a tribute to Bruno Figliuolo on the occasion of his 70th birthday, a year before  his retirement from the university . The thirty essays published here cover only a few of the topics that Figliuolo explored in his extremely rich scholarly production. The title recalls his passion for archival research, which has led him and will continue to lead him to travel relentlessly. There is no Italian region left out of his research tours: there are very few archives in which Bruno has not stuck his foot and nose between ancient parchments and registers yellowed by centuries.

Author Biographies

Elisabetta Scarton, University of Naples Federico II

Elisabetta Scarton teaches medieval history at the University of Udine. Alumna of Figliuolo, she studied the 15th-century Florentine diplomacy and the parliamentary institutions of Aragonese Naples. Her research, still focused on diplomatic correspondences, also looks at the history of the patriarchate of Aquileia (particularly its institutions, society and economy).

Francesco Senatore, University of Naples Federico II

Francesco Senatore teaches medieval history at the University of Naples Federico II. He studies Italian history, in particular the Mezzogiorno, in the 14th-16th centuries, with an interest in comparisons with other European regions. His research concerns diplomacy, epistolary correspondences, urban history, institutions, documentation, chronicles, archives, and the teaching of history.
