Abstract: The work of art is the result of a conscious intellectual act, yet the concrete action of artistic creation comes into play, influencing the work from the moment it takes shape on the staff, on the lines, on the canvas, or on the film. The initial image may retain its strength or transform over the course of the work, but most often, it serves as a stimulus, as little by little, the material becomes dominant. These themes—and their respective implications in the fields of pedagogy, musical composition, visual arts, and cinema, without overlooking the very current questions surrounding artificial intelligence—were the focus of the conference in Udine (June 9-10, 2023), whose proceedings are gathered here.
