Abstract: This volume collects the proceedings of the International PhD Symposium in Engineering and Sport Sciences, which was held at the University of Cassino and Lazio Meridionale from Oct. 10 to 12, 2023. Doctoral students of different scientific fields from 7 different countries presented the results of their research. The papers presented provided an overview of the state of research in the various fields of Engineering and Motor Sciences.

Author Biographies

Fabrizio Marignetti, LEDA, Laboratorio di ElettroDinamica Avanzata

Fabrizio Marignetti (M’00-SM’08) received the Laurea degree with honours and the PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Napes Federico II in 1993 and 1998, respectively. In 1998 he joined the University of Cassino, Italy, where he is currently a full professor of power electronic converters, electrical machines and drives. His research areas are in the design, analysis and digital control of electrical machines, renewable energies, power converters. Dr. Marignetti is the founder and CEO of the spin-off company LEDA srl. In the years 2003-2005 Dr Marignetti has participated in a research project that led to the construction of the first Italian superconductive transformer. Dr Marignetti is the author or co-author of 260 publications in his research field and is the holder of three patents. Since 2015, Dr Marignetti is a Fellow of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN). Dr Marignetti won five paper awards.

Salman Ali, University of Cassino and Southern Lazio

Salman Ali is a doctoral research student at Università degli Studi di Cassino e del Lazio Meridionale, Italy. Salman Ali received his BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Federal Urdu University Islamabad and his Masters in Electrical Engineering from COMSATS University Islamabad. His field of research is Electrical Engineering, specializing in Electrical Machine Design. He is well-versed in Power Electronics, Renewable Energy Technologies, and Power and Energy. Salman Ali is currently the Secretary of the Industrial Electronics Chapter of the IEEE Italy Section and General Co-Chair of the International PhD Symposium. As a young researcher, Salman has nine publications, including a patent.

Romolo Di Bernardo, University of Cassino and Southern Lazio

Romolo Di Bernardo received his Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio and is currently a doctoral research student in the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering. He specializes in advanced and algorithmic CAD design for product development. His primary research fields include fluid dynamics applied to the naval sector, hydrofoil design, and sustainable propulsion systems. Romolo Di Bernardo is the general coordinator of the International PhD Symposium.
