Abstract: The name of the Roman city of Cupra Maritima is inextricably linked to the name of the Picene goddess Cupra, in ancient times assimilated with Hera/Venus/Bona Dea. The booklet illustrates the origin, the historical and territorial diffusion of this divinity of the liminal, in which we recognize the features of ancient cults and rituals widespread throughout the archaic Mediterranean.
