Abstract: The popularisation of botany is an issue that involves not only teachers and students, but society as a whole, since plants are the basis of every ecosystem and at the same time represent a primary source of psychophysical well-being for mankind.
Traditionally, the teaching of botany in Italian secondary schools has had, and still has, an inadequate role, leading to a lack of knowledge of even the most common plants of the Italian landscape.
The aim of this book is to introduce the reader to the plant world through an exemplified educational pathway, in which, following an alphabetical order, general topics are accompanied by the description of plants that are characterized by a long history of cultivation and cultural relations with Italic populations.
