Napoli Racconta/Naples raconte. University Prize for Fiction in French for unpublished short stories: Selected stories and translations

Michele Costagliola d’Abele is Tenured Lecturer in French literature at the Università degli Studi di Napoli “L’Orientale”. After a PhD (Università degli Studi di Napoli “L’Orientale”, co-advisor in France, Université Paris Ouest La Défense) on the relationship between Italo Calvino and the Oulipo, he received an excellence scholarship from the Swiss Confederation for a post-doc at the University of Geneva, where he was also a Lecturer.

In particular his researches focuse on contemporary French literature (Oulipo, Perec, Queneau, Garréta, Pancrazi) and on the stylistic and pragmatic analysis of the literary text (encoding of subjectivity, effects of free indirect style and its diachronic evolution since the 19^th century, non-propositional effects of the subjective use of verbal tenses, e.g. historical present in Gide, narrative-subjective imperfect in Pancrazi, compound past in Camus, etc.).

He is the author of a monography, L’Oulipo e Italo Calvino, published in 2014 by Peter Lang, and of several contributions published in national and international journals or books.

Sarah Pinto is a tenured lecturer in French Language and Translation at L'Orientale University, where she teaches syntax and speech analysis.  As part of her doctorate she studied the morphosemantic evolution of the terminology of photography and published a book and several papers on the subject. She mainly deals with specialty lexicons (biology, photography) and applied linguistics (meta-lessicography, scientific terminology, digital didactics) and contemporary French literature (Irène Némirovsky, Chloé Delaume). His current research interests focus on the textual genre of song lyrics, for which she proposes a linguistic-pragmatic analysis. She is a member of several reserch projects and she has been the secretary of the Prize Napoli Racconta from 2011 to 2014.

Emilia Surmonte is tenured lecturer in French Language and Literature at the University of Basilicata. Her fields of research focuse on contemporary literature and the language of sensoriality. She has published the monographs, La langue des odeurs en diachro-syncronie (2014), Antigone, la Sphinx d’Henry Bauchau (2011), Declinazioni della passione in Marguerite Yourcenar (2006). She is the Italian translator of Claude Simon's Georgics and author of numerous literary and linguistic-cultural articles, some of which include works on Henry Bauchau, Marguerite Yourcenar, Claude Simon, André Gide, Philippe Vilain and Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt. She is also interested in the relationship between literature and graphic novel.
