Abstract: This short book (pigR: R for lazy students, pigr-i in Italian) stems from a few years of very frustrating teachning experiences in a short course of Statistical computing with R for PhD students. It is intended for junior scientists in experimental sciences who have little experience with statistics and coding and need to learn how to do data analysis with something more complex than a spreadsheet, and to do it fast.

The general idea is: to provide a general view of R as a language / environment and its value for data analysis and statistics; to help (potential) users to identify their needs in terms of algorithms and statistical functions; to provide guided paths for standard sets of learning / usage needs and different level of interactions (from absolute beginners to intermediate), pointing the users to the best resources for further learning.
