Topic and Contents of the Book Series: In the last years the world has experienced extraordinary urban growth with more then 50 per cent of the world’s population lived in cities. Rapid urbanization has produced enormous challenges, regarding the increasing demand of dwellings, basic services and infrastructure. Urban and regional planning, together with urban and landscape design, are needed to make cities more inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. The Sustainable Development Goal no. 11 in the Agenda 2030 requests large efforts to tackle these challenges.
The book series “TRIA. Urban Studies” is open to qualified research contributions able to discuss the main topics present in the current urban planning debate in the perspective of a sustainable development. The scope of the series is to collect depth analysis and critical essays on the changing urban world, especially regarding to the challenges to be faced by planning, such as:
- Disaster risk reduction
- Sustainable cities and human settlements
- Affordable transport systems
- Inclusive urbanization
- Safeguard the world’s cultural and natural heritage
- Access to safe and inclusive green and public spaces
The main research fields of the series encompass urban and regional planning, urban design, landscape design and environmental planning.
