Abstract: This book is a selection of Federico Albano Leoni’s publications, representing the multifaceted nature of his research activity in different fields, which nonetheless share a great interest in signification and in linguistic production, as concrete manifestation of parole. In each of these areas, Albano Leoni’s research has left a mark that contributed to further developments: Germanic philology, historical linguistics, linguistique d'intervention, phonetics and phonology, corpus linguistics, philosophy of language. Each of these research areas represents a section of this volume, with an introduction by one of his former students or scholars who shared his scientific interests (Simona Leonardi, Luisa Corona, Anna Rosa Guerriero, Mariapaola D'Imperio, Loredana Cerrato, Mauro Serra). An exhaustive bibliography of Federico Albano Leoni’s many publications concludes the volume: the publications are arranged chronologically  within each subject area (a link indicates works that are freely accessible online).

The book is opened, as a general Introduction, by an interview with Albano Leoni, including academic memories and considerations on the future prospects of each of the themes covered by the volume. Contributing to the interview are also the three editors of the book (Elda Morlicchio, Valeria Micillo, Francesca M. Dovetto), the earliest pupils of Federico Albano Leoni, in German linguistics, Germanic philology and Historical and general Linguistics respectively, and Annibale Elia, Linguist at the University of Salerno, colleague of Albano Leoni and artist, author of the cover image.
