Abstract: The essays collected in this book offer a portrait of Michele Prisco in the context of Italian and European literature of the second half of the twentieth century. The articles analyze the writer's literary training, the most important moments of his literary, critical and journalistic activity, and the intellectual and artistic relationships with the major exponents of Italian society and culture of his time. It also investigates the writer's workshop, the author's papers, the correspondence and the editing of his works.

Author Biographies

Carlo Vecce, University of Naples "L'Orientale"

Carlo Vecce  is Professor of Italian Literature in the University of Naples “L’Orientale”, he taught also in the University of Pavia (School of Paleography and Musical Philology, Cremona), the D'Annunzio University of Chieti - Pescara and the University of Macerata. Abroad he was visiting professor at Paris 3 (Sorbonne Nouvelle) (2001) and University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) (2009). His researches focused on Renaissance Literature and Civilization in Italy and Europe, mainly in the history of intellectual workshops in the dawn of Modern Age, and in relationships among languages (from literature to visual culture and cinema). Among his publications, Iacopo Sannazaro in Francia: scoperte di codici all'inizio del XVI secolo (Padova 1988), Leonardo (Roma, 2006), Piccola storia della letteratura italiana (Napoli, 2009), La biblioteca perduta. Il libri di Leonardo (2017).

Laura Cannavacciuolo, University of Naples "L'Orientale"

Laura Cannavacciuolo is a Lecturer of Contemporary Italian Literature at the Department of Literary, Linguistic and Comparative Studies of the University of Naples “L’Orientale”. His critical studies on Camillo Boito, Pier Maria Rosso di San Secondo, Luciano Bianciardi have appeared in specialized magazines and in collective books. She is the author of the monographs La fabbrica del grottesco (Naples 2012), Salvatore di Giacomo. La letteratura e le arti (Pisa, 2015), Napoli boom. Il romanzo della città (Naples, 2019), «Lavorare nella contemporaneità». Giuseppe Pontiggia lettore (Naples, 2020).
