Full Professor of Hebrew at the University of Naples L’Orientale, where he teaches Jewish History and Civilisation, History of Judaism, Jewish Epigraphy and Antiquities, and has founded the Centre for Jewish Studies. At the same institution he directs the series Archivio di Studi Ebraici and the journal Sefer yuḥasin ‒ Review for the History of the Jews in South Italy. He is author of numerous publications on Jewish history and antiquities, his most recent monograph being Gli ebrei nell'Italia antica. Dalla diaspora all'età cristiana (Rome 2025). He has also worked on the philology and lexicography of the biblical text, the history of Hebrew script, medieval travel literature, and the history of science and magic in the Mediterranean area. He is the national coordinator of the Venusia Judaica Project.

Formerly a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Naples L’Orientale within the framework of the PRIN Project Venusia Judaica, she is currently a Researcher in Archaeology at the University of Naples Federico II. Holding a PhD in Archaeological and Art-Historical Sciences and a PhD in History, she has participated in archaeological missions in Syria (Tell Barri) and France (Javols), and has contributed to the setup of various exhibitions and archaeological museums. Her main research interests, focused on the Roman and Late Antique periods, have primarily concerned Naples and Southern Italy, encompassing the study of hypogea and catacombs and their decorative programmes, urban and funerary topography, frescoes and mosaics, the commercial, cultural and artistic contacts of the region with Africa and the Near East, and the relationships among different ethnic and religious groups, with particular attention to the Jewish component.
